This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious management consultant with aspirations to influence the 'Modernising Government' agenda and play his/her part in growing the reputation and accelerating the growth of the firm. Our client is a well established consultancy with an extensive list of blue chip clients, including the Department of Work and Pensions, HM Revenue and Customs, Home Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory and several other high profile departments and agencies. Clients extend to the private sector and include Barclays where they are retained as a preferred supplier. They have developed an enviable reputation in Central Government departments and in a recent Central Government Department Supplier Review they were rated the most successful external consultancy.
Their strategic growth plan is focusing on expanding their Central Government practice. Our client is looking for a management consultant who can help the leadership team to expand their portfolio of Central Government clients. He/she will be able to demonstrate his/her ability to sell, design and deliver high quality results-oriented consulting engagements that deliver genuine value.

4. Commercial Support for Major Structural Change includes joint ventures and partnerships by developing a thorough understanding through risk management, transactional support and commercial due diligence.

The position
Our client now seeks to recruit a management consultant with a proven sales track record in Central Government who will report directly to the Senior Directors. The position has been created for an ambitious professional to drive the firm's growth by extending their successful approach to consultative selling which is firmly based on understanding their clients' issues and being able to sell high value projects and lead these projects to provide great client value and satisfaction. The successful candidate will also contribute to developing the firm's consulting capability, future strategy and leadership responsibility.
Core Role
The ideal candidate will have a successful and demonstrable sales and delivery track record with Central Government departments in a recognised consulting company. We seek a management consultant who can establish and extend their presence in Central Government by maintaining and developing senior relationships which generate opportunities. Our client is already extremely successful at bidding for Central Government assignments and they seek an individual who can support and extend their success record. Competence in Prince2 and MSP (Managing Successful Projects) is required and relevant qualifications would be attractive.
After winning new projects the successful candidate will contribute to designing and delivering these assignments with their colleagues. They will ensure client satisfaction by growing the firm's reputation, footprint and average size of assignment.
The ideal candidate is likely to be between their late 30s and mid 40s with at least 10 years' experience with a recognised consulting business. He/she will be able to demonstrate enduring relationships with senior government officials and civil servants with buying authority. He/she will have graduate academic qualifications and/or equivalent professional qualifications. Published material in relevant journals will be an additional attraction.
Service Development
The successful candidate must develop a rapid understanding of the firm's culture, consulting style and methodology. He/she will then contribute to building their intellectual capital, service offerings and consulting methodologies. This will also include producing relevant white papers and published articles.
Consultant and Leadership Development
The successful candidate will understand and support the firm's market and corporate values by living them and ensuring they are respected and practised by their colleagues. He/she will have formal and informal responsibility for identifying their colleagues' development needs, generating ideas and providing practical support.
Once established he/she will take more formal responsibilities for career development in the consulting staff. He/she will also be invited to contribute to the firm's leadership agenda as a function of his/her contribution to its commercial growth.
Remuneration Package
The package will be very competitive to attract the right quality of candidate. It will have a substantial basic salary and the normal benefits. Incentive payments will be related to company performance, role objectives and his/her contribution to growing the firm's capability and team morale.
